Thank you for your patience as we plan for educating students during this historic pandemic.
From the survey, we realize that technology access is an issue not just for a number of our students, but for teachers, as well. Teachers are making plans right now on the best way to provide learning opportunities for students. This is new for all of us, so we sincerely ask for your feedback and help as we complete the final weeks of school. Our target date to start distance learning is Monday, April 6.
Please understand that school is not canceled! We can't meeting in the building together, but learning will take place! The distance learning plan we develop and the assignments that given are required for the student successfully pass this year. The assignments are mostly review and enrichment, but are critical to ensure that students don't lose the skills they have.
Depending on the class, there may be online instruction opportunities, Zoom sessions via your smartphone or other device, paper packets, workbooks, phone calls, and more. I encourage you and your students to make daily contact with teachers through the computer, text, phone, Remind/Bloomz, or other methods that the teacher offers. Remember that OETA is providing daily programming that the state deliberately chose for this time of instruction, and teachers may ask that you watch it. Some of those air times are awkward, but recording and viewing later in the day is an option.
We will be posting ways for students to read e-books. Now more than ever, students need to be reading daily to maintain their skills. This is also a great time to learn math facts or sight words! We will be posting all sorts of things on our website that you may find helpful and fun for your student.
Thank you for being partners with us. We appreciate your willingness to join with us to educate your children.
Every year, school districts receive an "A-F Report Card" from the state of Oklahoma. I am very proud of our staff and students, who have worked hard during the school year to improve our score. I also want to thank you, our parents, for placing a priority on student learning and attendance.
We are scored in three areas: Academic Performance, Academic Growth, and Attendance. As you can see, McCord out-performed the state in all areas. You can see the scores for your student and for the school at https://www.oklaschools.com/, or for your convenience I have them below.
McCord is excited to offer MySchoolBucks® School Store!
